Current standardization efforts in CAD-related fields may be essentially grouped into two major families of standards: computer graphics standards (the CORE - GKS - PHIGS family) aimed mainly at display generation and -to some extent - display (i.e. graphics) storage and retrieval; product data exchange standards (the IGES - PDES family) aimed mainly at data transfer between different CAD systems and - to some extent product data storage and retrieval. ...Current standardization efforts in CAD-related fields may be essentially grouped into two major families of standards: computer graphics standards (the CORE - GKS - PHIGS family) aimed mainly at display generation and -to some extent - display (i.e. graphics) storage and retrieval; product data exchange standards (the IGES - PDES family) aimed mainly at data transfer between different CAD systems and - to some extent product data storage and retrieval.

Leveraging 3D graphics in service information creation processes like the creation of manual illustrations or service instruction imagery is currently a big topic at many companies. ...Disparities between the requirements for 3D models for engineering tasks and service illustration/ animation creation can impede the utilization of 3D graphics down the product development process. Differences in requirements for 3D models and several pros and contras of 3D-CAD-derived computer graphics for several Customer support-related use-cases are discussed: Technical illustrations for operator and service manuals line art drawings for parts catalogs and service manuals animated sequences for training courses ...Differences in requirements for 3D models and several pros and contras of 3D-CAD-derived computer graphics for several Customer support-related use-cases are discussed: Technical illustrations for operator and service manuals line art drawings for parts catalogs and service manuals animated sequences for training courses

A Survey of Mid-Level Driving Simulators

1995-02-01
950172
For this paper a mid-level simulator is defined as one which has a large roadway scene display typically comprising animated computer graphics, it may have a motion system or be fixed base, it should have a dedicated cab with a steering feel system and interactive controls and displays, it has a parametrically configurable vehicle dynamics model, data acquisition is provided for, and the simulator is intended to be used for driver behavior research and vehicle or highway research and development studies.

Analysis of a Neural Network Lateral Controller for an Autonomous Road Vehicle

1992-08-01
921561
The driving simulator, called RoadWay, is a three-dimensional computer graphics environment which supports interactive highway design and driving capabilities. The visual preprocessor, RoadVision, receives images from RoadWay, which represent forward-looking views from the cockpit of the simulated vehicle, and encodes these images using a family of oriented two-dimensional Gabor filters.

Analysis of Illumination Condition Effect on Vehicle Detection in Photo-Realistic Virtual World

2017-09-23
2017-01-1998
To investigate the influence of illumination conditions on detection algorithms, we reproduced various illumination intensities in a photo-realistic virtual world, which leverages recent progress in computer graphics, and verified vehicle detection effect there. In the virtual world, the environmental illumination is controlled precisely from low to high to simulate different illumination conditions in the driving scenarios (with relative luminous intensity from 0.01 to 400).
